The Golf Safari from Pretoria to Pretoria traverses the northeastern regions of South Africa. The program is divided into two programs: one for golfers, with numerous days dedicated to playing on some of the country’s best courses, and another for non-golfers, with extraordinary experiences to discover the wonders of the region. From Pretoria, the tour reaches Sun City in the Pilanesberg hills for wildlife observation. The tour crosses the majestic Drakensberg Mountains to Spionkop, an ideal starting point for discovering the area’s mountains, savannahs, birdlife, and battlefields. Through the picturesque Valley of a Thousand Hills, the tour reaches Durban for a tour of the city and botanical gardens. The wildlife observation continues in Hluhluwe in Zululand (one of the country’s oldest reserves) and in the famous Kruger National Park in Malelane, with a visit to the Kingdom of eSwatini (Swaziland), before concluding this unforgettable trip in Pretoria.

  1. Day 1 - Pretoria - Pride of Africa

    Itinerary for all passengers: Morning boarding of the Pride of Africa train and departure from the charming Pretoria station, owned by Rovos Rail / Lunch / Free afternoon on board / Overnight stay with dinner and breakfast en route to Rustenburg

  2. Day 2 Pride of Africa: Sun City

    Itinerary for golfers: Transfer to Sun City’s Gary Player/Lost City Golf Course for a full morning of golf / Lunch and free afternoon at the course / Return to the train / Dinner in the dining car en route to Heidelberg / Overnight stay with breakfast
    Itinerary for non-golfers: Transfer via a scenic drive to Sun City / Game drive in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve / Lunch with the golfers’ group / Free time at Lost City’s Sun City / Return to the train / Dinner in the dining car en route to Heidelberg / Overnight stay with breakfast

  3. Day 3 Pride of Africa

    Itinerary for all passengers: Free day aboard the train en route to Ladysmith / Climb the heights of Majuba Hill, site of the decisive battle that ended the First Anglo-Boer War / Pass Newcastle, home to what is believed to be the largest domed Hindu temple in the southern hemisphere, arrive in Glencoe, site of the first battle of the Anglo-Boer War and now the centre of the province’s coalfields / Overnight stay on a full-board basis

  4. Day 4 Pride of Africa: Spionkop

    Itinerary for golfers: Transfer to the Champagne Sports Resort golf course for a morning of golf / Lunch / In the afternoon, transfer aboard the train / Overnight stay with dinner and breakfast
    Itinerary for non-golfers: In the morning, transfer to Spionkop Lodge to explore the sites of the early 20th-century battles between the Boer States Army and the British Empire / Lunch / Followed by an afternoon game drive in the reserve, which extends over 4,450 hectares / Return aboard the train where tea will be served / Overnight stay with dinner and breakfast

  5. Day 5 Pride of Africa: Durban

    Itinerary for golfers: Early wake-up and transfer (about an hour and a half) to the Durban Country Club golf course (or one of the Mt Edgecombe and Cotswold Downs courses) for a morning of golf, lunch, followed by a return train ride and an afternoon at leisure, and an overnight stay with dinner and breakfast.
    Itinerary for non-golfers: Transfer to Durban for a tour of the city and the botanical gardens, transfer to Umhlanga for lunch, followed by a return train ride and an afternoon at leisure, and an overnight stay with dinner and breakfast.

  6. Day 6 Pride of Africa: Hluhluwe - Imfolozi Park

    Itinerary for all passengers: Early wake up and transfer to Hluhluwe – Imfolozi Park for morning game drive / return to the train for brunch / free afternoon on board / overnight with dinner and breakfast

  7. Day 7 Pride of Africa: eSwatini

    Golfer’s Itinerary: Transfer to the Royal Swazi Sun Golf Course in eSwatini (Swaziland) for a morning of golf / Lunch / In the afternoon, return to the train and depart for Komatipoort, South Africa / Overnight stay with dinner and breakfast
    Non-Golfer’s Itinerary: Early wake-up and transfer to the Mkhaya Reserve for a morning game drive / Continue to the historic Swazi Candle factory, which has been producing candles for over 40 years / Lunch / In the afternoon, meet the golfers at the Royal Swazi Sun / Return to the train and time for tea served in the Observation Cars / Overnight stay with dinner and breakfast en route to Malelane

  8. Day 8 Pride of Africa: Kruger Park

Cabins

The sophisticated cabins, in Edwardian style with fine wood paneling and period-reminiscent décor, are divided into Pullman suites (approximately 7 square meters), Deluxe suites (approximately 10 square meters), and Royal suites (approximately 16 square meters).

All equipped with a private bathroom, minibar, and air conditioning, they allow guests to enjoy maximum comfort while remaining in their own private space, silently contemplating the captivating panorama outside. Room service is also available 24 hours a day.

The Pullman suites feature a coffee table and a comfortable sofa during the day, which converts into a double bed or twin beds at night.

The Deluxe suites feature a larger living area with a table, elegant chairs, and a bed pre-configured as either a double bed or two twin beds.

The Royal suites feature a spacious lounge and a bathroom with a Victorian bathtub and separate shower. The bed configuration can be a double bed or two twin beds.
